How many jobs do you need to apply to?

If you are thinking about the magic number, there really isn’t one. Find out how many jobs we think you should apply to, before you will get an interview.

 

 

Most questions concerning the job search seems to revolve around a magic  number of  resumes sent out and the number of interviews one will receive.  From our experience,  we think that you should apply to a set number of jobs  on a regular schedule. So for  example, if you want to apply to ten jobs per  week, or two per day, stick to your goal  and you will have a good chance of  seeing some progress.

What happens if you get an interview, should you still apply to jobs?

Yes, we recommend if you get an interview, keep applying. You never know if a) something better comes around b) the company may decide not to hire someone for the job c) you learn more about the job and it isn’t for you. Since it can take about one to four weeks to secure a job after the first interview, keep up the momentum. If you relax and stop applying and it turns out the job you interviewed for was not the job for you, you are now a few weeks behind schedule.
